- The Internet Activities Board (IAB) manages the publication of RFCs. It is in charge of the Internet Research Task Force (IRTF) and the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).
- IETF - Works on Internet problems.
- IRTF - Coordinates Internet research projects.
- Interoperability - The ability of one system to communicate with another through applications.
- NIC - Network Information Center is used to get assigned IP addresses.
- RFC - Request for comments
- Packet switching - The process of establishing a path for data packets to take between the sending and receiving device. Routers perform this function.
